3M CLARITY & INVISALIGN CLEAR ALIGNERS

3M Clarity and Invisalign aligners are a popular alternative to traditional braces. They use custom-made removable trays to straighten teeth instead of using glued brackets and wires. During treatment, a series of removable clear aligner trays are worn to straighten the teeth. These removable trays are worn 24 hours per day with the exception of eating and brushing. They are replaced with a new set of trays as the teeth shift. In addition, clear aligners can also be used to treat bite discrepancies in some cases.

LINGUAL BRACES

Lingual braces are a cosmetic alternative to traditional braces. Instead of the metal brackets being placed on the outside of the teeth, they are fixed behind the teeth so they’re nearly invisible. Lingual braces can be used to straighten teeth and correct alignment issues, the same way traditional braces can, and must be tightened  periodically to gradually shift your teeth. Since each patient’s mouth is unique, orthodontic treatment time using lingual braces can vary and is dependent on the severity of each patient’s dental condition.

CERAMIC BRACES

Ceramic braces, similar to traditional braces, use clear or tooth-colored brackets to straighten teeth or correct bite issues rather than using traditional metal brackets. This is a popular alternative for orthodontic patients who want to straighten their teeth without the appearance of braces. Ceramic braces require periodic office visits every 4-8 weeks to tighten the ceramic braces and gradually move teeth into their desired position. Since each patient’s mouth is unique, orthodontic treatment time using ceramic braces can vary and is dependent on the severity of each patient’s dental condition.

TRADITIONAL BRACES

Traditional braces involve metal brackets that are bonded to the teeth and connected by a flexible metal wire to straighten teeth or correct bite issues. Dr. Weeman strategically glues the brackets onto each individual tooth and carefully inserts the wire. Small rings of rubber are placed around the brackets to hold the wire in place. Traditional braces require periodic office visits every 4-8 weeks to tighten the braces and gradually move teeth into their desired position. Since each patient’s mouth is unique, orthodontic treatment time using traditional braces can vary and is dependent on the severity of each patient’s dental condition.

CORRECTIVE JAW SURGERY

Corrective Jaw Surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, is performed to correct irregularities within the jaw bone. It involves realigning the jaw and teeth to an anatomically correct position to improve bite issues, sleep apnea, and TMJ pain. It can improve a patient’s eating, chewing, and speaking abilities, as well as boost their confidence by improving facial imbalances and appearance. Most patients are required to complete orthodontic treatment to level and realign the teeth correctly prior to undergoing surgery. Dr. Weeman has decades of experience working in collaboration with surgeons to ensure orthodontic treatment has carefully been assessed and completed prior to the surgery.

Benefits of Orthodontics

Dr. Robert Weeman
Orthodontist

We offer orthodontic treatment to teens and adults alike. The obvious benefit of getting braces is the cosmetic effect, but it is far from the only reason to undergo orthodontic treatment. Properly aligned teeth play a critical role in overall oral health and overall well-being. By straightening misaligned teeth, braces help improve bite function, making it easier to chew and speak properly. Correcting malocclusions can alleviate jaw pain and reduce the risk of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

Additionally, straight teeth are easier to clean, reducing the chances of gum disease and tooth decay. Orthodontic treatment can boost self-esteem and confidence, leading to improved social interactions and mental well-being. Ultimately, investing in braces offers more than just a beautiful smile; it promotes optimal oral health and enhances the quality of life in numerous ways.
